This article is dedicated to fellow physicians, specialists and senior consultants who seek to integrate the latest radiotherapy solutions into the management plan of their patients, with the goal of ensuring treatment that is accurate, safe and effective.
In oncologic practice, success depends on our ability, as physicians, to collaborate for the benefit of the patient. Radiotherapy is now a tool of extraordinary precision that supports all specialties involved in cancer treatment. My goal is for every patient to receive the most appropriate indication, benefiting from advanced technology within the shortest possible time.
These are the pillars on which my professional approach is built:
1. Rapid access to treatment
Time is a critical factor in oncology. The clinic’s workflow is structured to eliminate waiting periods, ensuring prompt initiation of treatment as soon as the indication has been validated and the CT simulation has been completed.
- Efficient scheduling: The patient benefits from treatment without unnecessary delays.
- Medical communication: The referring physician is kept regularly informed about the patient’s clinical course.
- Continuity of care: After the completion of the irradiation course, the patient returns under the supervision of the treating physician, accompanied by a detailed medical report.
2. Dialogue and expertise within Multidisciplinary Tumor Boards
I believe that the best decisions are made as a team. I am available for active participation in multidisciplinary boards or to provide a technical perspective in discussions involving complex cases. Collaboration between physicians, based on respect and competence, is the only way we can offer the patient the best chance of an optimal outcome.
3. Collegiality and support for fellow radiation oncologists
Beyond interdisciplinary collaboration, I believe in solidarity within our own specialty. I am open to offering guidance or a second opinion to fellow radiation oncologists in selected cases that require complex dosimetric planning. My ultimate goal is for the patient, regardless of where treatment is delivered, to benefit from the safest and most effective technical solution available.
4. Safety and technological precision throughout the treatment sequence
The performance of treatment depends directly on the accuracy of dose delivery. Linear accelerators such as TrueBeam STx and Halcyon, used within the unit where I practice, represent the current standard of excellence in the field. With the help of next-generation planning software, we ensure that irradiation is delivered strictly in line with clinical objectives, whether we are speaking about preparation for surgery or consolidation of results after chemotherapy.
This submillimetric precision allows for a rigorous dosimetric distribution that protects healthy tissues and peritumoral vascularization. In this way, we can offer safe solutions even in anatomically challenging situations, minimizing long-term toxicity and ensuring easier recovery for the patient, regardless of disease location.
Beyond the performance of the machines we use, the essence of our profession remains care for the human being. My role is to ensure that the patient receives the right treatment at the right time, while offering my colleagues technical and professional support they can rely on at any stage of treatment.
Direct collaboration and communication
If you have patients who require evaluation for radiotherapy or if you would like to discuss the appropriateness of irradiation in a specific case, I encourage you to establish a direct line of communication with me. My priority is that, together, we ensure a smooth and correct medical pathway for every patient.
